LCI Melbourne is a member of the LCI Education network which now boasts over 60 years of experience in educating over 15 000 future creative master-minds every year all over the world. With 23 campuses spread on 5 continents, LCI Melbourne students have the opportunity to connect with creative peers in Montreal, Vancouver, Barcelona, Istanbul, Colombia, Monterrey, Casablanca and even Jakarta.
In 1998 LCI Melbourne was founded as the Australian Academy of Design by Professor Robert Treseder, and was inaugurated by the Australian Academy of the Arts.
It was recognised as a Registered Training Organisation (RTO No.4656) in 1999 by the Office of Training and Tertiary Education (OTTE). In 2001 LCI Melbourne was registered on Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students (CRICOS No. 02201G).
Between 2001 and 2006 the Academy offered bachelor and master degrees through an affiliation agreement with Charles Sturt University. In 2006, OTTE recognised the Academy as a Higher Education Provider able to offer bachelor degrees in its own right. The same year OTTE accredited the Bachelor of Design Arts, which was developed in association with the Australian Academy of the Arts.
The Academy of Design Australia joined forces with LCI Education in 2015, offering its student even more international opportunities. The LCI Melbourne name officially came into use in January 2018.
